Southern Ocean Lodge

Completed in 2024, the rebuilt Southern Ocean Lodge returns to the clifftops of Kangaroo Island after being lost in the 2019 bushfires. The new lodge follows the footprint of the original, with sweeping views of the Southern Ocean, a central Great Room, and a series of guest suites set along the coastline. Designed to reconnect with its surroundings, the property reflects both the resilience of the island and its close relationship to the landscape.

As trusted long-term partners of Baillie Lodges, Bemboka was invited to create bespoke pieces that honour the property’s coastal setting and understated sense of luxury.

Custom Reversible Rib Cotton Blankets in Ink/Mocha were developed for the guest suites, with our Wide Rib Angora & Merino Wool Throws in Wheat and Trieste Cotton Throw in Marl Dove also placed throughout. Beds are finished with Bemboka’s Belgian Linen Pillowcases in Stone.

Bathrooms feature Jacquard Towels in Ink, including hand towels, face washers, and bath sheets, alongside ribbed bathmats in the same tone. Our Pure Knitted Cotton Bathrobes in Ink are also featured throughout the lodge, providing guests with the ultimate in comfort and luxury.

Selections were made to reflect the colours of the surrounding coastline and sea, contributing to a cohesive and considered interior throughout.
